Dance Church Maui is excited to welcome back David Starfire! David is a world-renowned producer, multi-instrumentalist, and DJ that is known for his signature “global-glitch-bass” sound. His niche is mixing world instruments and fusing them with modern beats, often performing with percussion and various world instruments such as the phin (Thai lute) or the tumbi from India. Opening the evening is Mikaya, founder of Dance Church Maui, and avid DJ of the ecstatic dance format. Mikaya's sets are know for their wave like progression spanning multiple genres that help the dancer to merge with the dance.

About David Starfire

David Starfire is an amazing producer/multi-instrumentalist/DJ that is known for his signature “global-glitch-bass” sound. He has released 4 albums and 7 EPs in the last 11 years as well as various singles and remixes. David’s Ascend album reached #7 on the iTunes world music chart and #5 on the RPM and World music CMJ charts. His songs have been remixed by the likes of Govinda, iLL Gates, Gaudi, An-ten-nae, Desert Dwellers, Sidecar Tommy (Beats Antique), Kalya Scintilla and Kaya Project.

David has performed at festivals and shows along with some of the biggest electronic artists including Skrillex, Bassnectar, Deadmau5, Daft Punk, David Guetta, Diplo and countless others. He's performed around the world in exotic places such as India, Thailand, Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico, Australia and most major cities in Europe. Festival highlights include Coachella, Winter Music Conference, Lightning in a Bottle, Symbiosis, Love Parade, Outside Lands, Electric Picnic (Ireland), Shambhala(Canada), Burning Man and Wakarusa.

In 2016, David released his Karuna album where he traveled to the Thai-Burma border-zones to collaborate with Burmese refugee musicians, which was a first for an electronic artist. All of the proceeds go towards a non-profit to pay for education for Burmese refugee children. Other collaborators on the album are Alex Grey (the well-known visionary painter), William Close and the Earth Harp (runner up on America’s Got Talent), and Govinda. The world-renowned digital painter, Android Jones, designed the album cover.

About Mikaya

Maui's Resident Dance Church Maui DJ and Founder has returned from an 8 month walk-about studying conscious dance, yoga and sound healing in India, Bali, and Berlin. The influence of these diverse cultures and experiences will be omni-present in the rhythmic journey that he leads through a blend of downtempo, devotional, tribal, and bass heavy music.

Kyra believes that laughter is medicine, and that living from the heart is is essential for spiritual evolution; her yoga classes reflect these beliefs with supplementing energies of play and self-study. Her classic yoga training coupled with a dance and acrobatics background allows for exploration of creative sequencing, while still offering students time for personal growth amidst traditional structure. Expect to leave her classes radiant, nourished, and inspired.

An alcohol/drug-free event that welcomes all ages to its dance floor for the sacred expression of dance. The group that organizes this event is non/all denominational, without any direct connection to religious affiliation. The container that is created is designed to allow freedom of dance expression, that is liberating, heart-opening, communal and uniquely self-expressive. For the creation of a safe container, arrive sober and participate with a clear mind and an open heart. We invite you to let your unique dance expression be the vehicle for your transformation and spiritual growth.
